Metallurgical Service
AHT's full service UltraGlow processing includes:
- On site problem solving/metallurgical consulting
- Complete metallurgical reports on finished parts
- Failure analysis on problem parts
- SPC on part processing, with ongoing reporting procedures
On-Site Problem Solving/Metallurgical Consulting
On-staff metallurgists are available for consultation to
provide assistance for material selection and/or heat treat requirements
to meet specific specification. Assistance is also offered in developing heat
treat specifications to meet a part load or wear requirement.
Three modern metallurgical laboratories, one at each site, are staffed by
experienced laboratory technicians and supported by the metallurgists.
These facilities are available to provide complete metallurgical reports to
document the results including case depth, cross sectional hardness,
surface or core hardness of the various heat treatments provided.
Failure Analysis or Problem Parts
The three metallurgical laboratories also provide failure analysis
of problem parts. The experienced technicians and metallurgists can
examine failed parts and provide a detailed technical report detailing
the cause and mode of failure. They also recommend material heat treat
of part design changes to alleviate the failure problem.
Magnetic Particle Inspection
Magnetic particle inspection is available to assist during
induction hardening set ups to identify cracks and allow the
set up to be revised to eliminate the cracking potential.
It can also be used for quality assurance to examine parts prior to shipment.
For very large parts, die penetrate testing is available for identifying cracks.
