Design Considerations
An UltraGlow plasma nitride surface consists of a compound zone and an underlying diffusion zone. (Figure 1). The outer, very thin layer consists of an intermetallic compound of iron plus nitrogen; often called the white layer.

With UltraGlow, very controlled surface layers with quite specific qualities for various applications can be obtained. Extremely detailed photos and design advice is available upon request.

Our comprehensive experience since 1981 and our reference library is available to aid in your design. We offer an enormous database of technology pertaining to ion nitriding tools or production parts.
