UltraOx®

Advanced Heat Treat's UltraOx® treatment can further improve the corrosion resistance properties attained by the nitriding cycle. This is a passivation process in which oxygen bonds with ferrous alloys at a low processing temperature. This process also produces an aesthetic, smooth black finish on the part.

Benefits of UltraOx®

  • Increases corrosion resistance
  • Reduces adhesive wear & increases fatigue strength
  • Outperforms and outlasts chromium and nickel plating, as well as powder coating
  • No surface pitting, flaking or hydrogen embrittlement
  • Produces aesthetic, smooth black finish
  • Easily surpasses salt spray test of 150 hours per ASTM B117
  • Achieves surface hardness of 70+ HRC
  • Can be used on long parts
  • 100% part coverage
  • Produces thick compound zone (white layer) - up to 0.0015"

"I had the sample bar that you sent me salt spray tested and the corrosion resistance looked good. It went 432 hours before any rust trails developed."

- Forrest M.
